Conference on women, addiction, trauma and treatment

A conference on women, addiction. trauma and treatment will be held on 1 and 2 September 2015 at Grand Hotel Reykjavik. RIKK – Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference is hosting the conference in cooperation with The Root – Association on Women’s Issues Relating to Alcohol and Addiction (https://www.facebook.com/rotin.felag), The Centre for Gender Equality and other partners. Speakers come from USA, Sweden, Greenland and Iceland and keynote speaker is Stephanie Covington a recognized clinician, author, organizational consultant, and lecturer. She is a pioneer in the field of women’s issues, addiction, and recovery. The conference is held in English.

The registration fee, full program ca. EUR 41, is paid in ISK.
The conference will be relevant to all therapists, addiction counsellors, clinical counsellors, school counsellors, employee assistance professionals, human resource professionals, mental health workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, psychiatric nurses, physicians, family therapists, social workers, rehabilitation/vocational counsellors and all other mental health professionals.
 Laywomen and -men with interest in the theme are welcome as well as people with experience of the treatment system. Some of the workshops will be targeted at women in recovery.
