Harmless? Against Microaggressions

The Harmless campaign is an awareness initiative aimed at addressing microaggressions and subtle forms of harassment faced by marginalized groups. It highlights behaviors often perceived as harmless but harmful when viewed through the lens of those affected.

By sharing real stories, the campaign illustrates everyday instances of microaggressions and their cumulative impact. It aims to implicit biases, raising awareness of the subtle yet harmful effects of such behaviors, encouraging reflection and societal change.

The campaign invites individuals to share their stories and engage in conversations about harassment and societal norms using the hashtag #harmless or by tagging the account @harmless. It employs storytelling, particularly through cartoon-style illustrations, to showcase real-life experiences of microaggressions and raise awareness about their societal impact.

Aligned with the Nordic Roadmap on Advancing Gender Equality and Equal Rights for Women, Girls, and LGBTI Persons (2022-2024), this project underscores the need for coordinated efforts to address resistance to gender equality and equal rights. The roadmap advocates for measures to combat hate speech, fostering intercultural dialogue and leveraging media, social media, and education to raise awareness of harmful expressions.

The campaign features cartoon-style illustrations in multiple languages to raise awareness about hate speech, harassment, and microaggressions, particularly against women, girls, and LGBTI individuals, while embracing intersectional perspectives. Although focused on the Nordic, the project will contribute to global efforts in line with the goals of the Nordic Roadmap.
